are highly favored and collected by national leaders, business elites,
art professionals, museums, international friends, and calligraphy
enthusiasts. Due to his moral integrity and artistic excellence, he has
become an artist deeply loved and respected by the people. In Liu
Fengxian’s brushwork, the plum blossoms are vivid and dynamic, with
natural ink techniques that portray them as frost-defying and
snow-proud, majestic in momentum, with slender branches and rugged,
vigorous forms. The longevity peaches are plump and round, lush and
verdant, embodying both form and spirit with lifelike vitality—a unique
creation that stands unparalleled. Her works in these two categories
feature bold and unrestrained brushstrokes, fresh and ethereal ink
application, and graceful, flowing lines exuding a crisp fragrance while
containing abundant moisture. The graceful yet varied lines and
substantial, weighty branches demonstrate her exceptional skill. This is
why she is often hailed as a’ heroine among women. ’Liu Fengxian’s
creative practice respects tradition without being bound by it,
inheriting without replicating, but instead emphasizing the connections
between nature’s flora fauna and human life and emotions through
intensified expression. She focuses on capturing the essence, soul, and
rhythm of brushwork and descriptions, paying attention to the conceptual
expression of beauty and goodness. Using the technique of’ transferring
vitality and substance, ’she conveys the vitality and distinct
characteristics of flowers and birds, emphasizing their role in’
capturing the essence of creation and inspiring spiritual
contemplation.’ Through her floral and avian paintings, she expresses
personal aspirations, moral integrity, and spiritual life, conveying
inner thoughts and pursuits while embedding emotions in objects and
articulating ideals through symbolism. Ink, a primary element in
traditional Chinese painting, encompasses five shades—thick, heavy,
light, clear, and scorched—representing the perfect integration of ink
and color, which every painter strives to achieve. However, while
brushwork and ink application form the physical foundation of painting
art, the strength within the brush constitutes its spiritual essence and
artistic vigor. Liu Fengxian boldly innovates and experiments with her
aesthetic sensibilities, gradually developing her own style
characterized by grandeur yet delicate subtlety, robustness yet natural
freshness—this perfectly encapsulates her artistic vision. Liu
Fengxian’s creations embody the principle of "conception precedes
brushwork" and "meaning lingers beyond the canvas." Her bold yet
restrained style conveys profound artistic conception without losing its
serene freshness. Her plum blossoms range from crimson as morning
clouds to snow-white as auspicious snow; her longevity peaches alternate
between dewy tenderness and ethereal fragrance, their subtle aroma
leaping off the paper like a breeze. Through skillful integration of
natural spirituality into her paintings, she evokes the deep resonance
of China’s millennia-old cultural heritage, interpreting the profound
essence of ancient Chinese art. Liu Fengxian’s works, infused with
poetic inspiration, calligraphic techniques, and scholarly cultivation,
demonstrate a seamless fusion of expressive intent, brushwork
principles, and linear composition. Drawing from nature while seeking
inner inspiration, her creations exhibit distinctive artistic
characteristics. The inscriptions in her paintings often express the
artist’s inner voice. A well-crafted verse can reveal an author’s depth
of thought and scholarly cultivation, serving as the finishing touch to a
masterpiece. The poetic inscriptions in Liu Fengxian’s works
demonstrate ingenious composition and cosmic vision. In her
compositions, she emphasizes the main subject while balancing spatial
contrasts and visual dialogues. She skillfully integrates poetic
inscriptions that enhance the painting’s artistic expression with
calligraphic elements harmonizing with the style, complemented by seals
to form a comprehensive art form. The sparse, dense, clustered, and
scattered blank spaces, the delicate vitality of flowers, fruits, birds,
and leaves, and the textured edges of aged branches all demonstrate the
exquisite craftsmanship of her creations.

Viewing Liu Fengxian’s Hundred-Meter Color Plum Scroll: This scroll
measures 100 meters in length and 1 meter in width. At the beginning,
inscribed by Mr.Lei Zhengmin, former chairman of the China Artists
Association, is the phrase "Plum Forest Spring Comes Early". Below this
is Liu Fengxian’s running script of Mao Zedong’s poem "Praising Plum
Blossoms", followed by her self-composed "Ode to Plum Blossoms". The
central section depicts the plum forest scenery in six colors,
concluding with a self-composed ode to plum blossoms. The scroll’s tail
bears comments by calligrapher Xian Shi. With its perfect structure and
exquisite craftsmanship, this is a masterpiece unparalleled in the
world. The plum blossoms under Liu Fengxian’s brush exude vibrant
vitality and natural ink techniques, standing tall against frost and
snow with majestic momentum. Their branches are slender yet ruggedly
vigorous, while bold brushstrokes create graceful lines. The ink
application is fresh and ethereal, with unrestrained and fluid strokes
that surpass all others. The piercing fragrance seems to waft through
the air, leaving viewers in awe and unanimous admiration. This scroll
truly stands as an eternal marvel, a supreme masterpiece with
immeasurable potential for appreciation. After viewing the painting,
Zhang Wenxiang, chairman of the Party Construction Academy, wrote this
heartfelt reflection.
